About Evan Lysacek

Evan Lysacek was born in Chicago on June 4, 1985, and started figure skating at the comparatively late age of 8. In 1996, he won the Junior Olympics for pre-Novice skaters, the novice national gold medal in 1999, and the junior national gold in 2000 when he was only 15. After quickly rising through junior figure skating ranks, Evan debuted on the senior international scene in 2004, winning the bronze medal at the World Championships (his first time there) in 2005, and again in 2006.

In 2006, Evan also won the silver medal at US Nationals, and competed at the Winter Olympics, overcoming the flu and a 10th place short program to perform a powerful and enthusiastic free skate, and vault up to 4th place overall. Recently, he started the 2006-07 figure skating season with significant wins, a silver medal at Skate America and gold medal at Cup of China.

Evan trains in figure skating with Frank Carroll and Ken Congemi in El Segundo, California. His choreographers are Lori Nichols and Kurt Browning.

In 2006, Evan skated to a variety of programs including Ave Maria, One by U2, Vamos a Bailar/Espana Caní, Grease, Time to Say Goodbye, Sway, and How to Pick Music (at Champions on Ice). His 2006 - 2007 programs include The Last Temptation of Christ, Carmen Suite, Carmen, and the exhibition progarms One by U2, Forever Young and Ave Maria.

Recently, Evan became a regular cast member of the Champions on Ice figure skating show, which tours the U.S. from April - July each year.
