Feeling copyright 1976 by Tracy Marks By allowing myself to feel like nothing when I feel like nothing, but without fear or judgment of my feelings, and without catastrophizing, "Oh, how terrible, how awful," I gradually come to feel like something, for I tap into a hidden reservoir of energy behind the nothingness. Likewise, by feeling emptiness I become full. By feeling helplessness, I become self-helping. By feeling impotent, I became aware of my own power. When I am these feelings, experiencing them without fear or judgment but quietly surrendering to them, I grow beyond them. But when I fight them, they become enormous shadowy ghouls lurking in every dark corner. |
