Part ten: Sasha Cohen, Champions on Ice

Sasha Cohen is one of the most popular Champions on Ice skaters, and with Michelle Kwan, usually ends the show, which tours in several dozen cities during April-July each year.

Sasha first skated in Champions on Ice as a guest in 1999 when she was still a junior skater, but did not become a regular performer of the tour until spring 2001, when because of a back problem, she was unable to do jumps. Inspired by Katia Gordeeva's ribbon program, she developed her own ribbon program to the music of Any Time, Anywhere, and skated it during the 2001 Champions on Ice tour.

The program which Sasha skated at Champions on Ice have been Hernando's Hideaway (2002), Romeo and Juliet (2003), My Fair Lady (2004), Don't Rain on My Parade (2005), and God Bless America (2006). Her 2007 Champions on Ice program has not been determined, but may indeed be West Side Story, which she just performed at Marshalls 2006, as these photographs portray.

Sasha looks forward to her yearly Champions on Ice performances, and the time she spends with other skating friends who are also in the show. She recently said that Champions on Ice "is about performance and entertaining the audience, without all the technical aspects. It's a chance to alive...and to enjoy each other's company."
