Part two: Sasha's family

Sasha Cohen's mother, Gallina, was born in Odessa, Ukraine, trained early in life in gymnastics and ballet, emigrated to the U.S., and then earned a business degree from University of California in Berkeley. Gallina actively supported her daughter Sasha's early training in both gymnastics and ballet - training which contributed to Sasha's amazing flexibility as a figure skater.

Sasha's father Roger Cohen, once a successful lawyer and now a business consultant, is also an accomplished skier who values athletic excellence. His mother, Sasha's American grandmother, has a special place in Sasha's heart not only due to her devotion to Sasha, but also because of her infamous oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.

In her autobiography, Fire and Ice, Sasha also expresses her closeness to and appreciation for her sister Natasha, four years younger than her. Natasha is an accomplished pianist, and now a student at Barnard College.

Sasha really enjoys cooking with her family, as well as traveling out and talking about everything - not just figure skating.

Last but not least, the final three treasured members of Sasha Cohen's family are two cats, Mia and Meow, and a dog, Mocha.
