About Kimmie Meissner
Worlds 2006 Figure Skating Champion

Continued from previous page
Kimmie Meissner was born on October 4, 1989 in Towson, Maryland and represents the University of Delaware Figure Skating club. Skating since the age of 6, after watching her elder brothers playing hockey, Kimmie began rigorously training, and and won a number of medals in junior competition, including the 2003 U.S. Novice gold, and the 2004 juniors world silver medal.

Kimmie received considerable attention internationally as a result of her fifth place finish at the 2006 Olympics, and her gold medal soon after at Worlds. She is also only the second U.S. woman (after Tonya Harding) to land a triple axel in competition.

When she is not competing, Kimmie skates with the spring Champions on Ice tour, and also attends school, as well as pursues her interests in reading, skiing and horseback riding.
